Rich Culture & Tradition in Sri Lanka

    Post by chananya

Sri Lanka, the land of Ceylon tea, is a country where the culture of small communities is still vibrant. Tea planting was introduced to the country between 1815 and 1948 when the country was one of the British Crown colonies. Nowadays, it is one of the leading tea producers in the world. Much of the tea plantations established by the British are still thriving and popular tourist attractions.

    This may “bug” you…

A few years ago, it became somehow fashionable in Europe to have a chef on boulevard television to fry maggots or grasshoppers, declaring them to be healthy and asking someone from the audience to try these insect dishes. For the eeeeeeeeeeew- effect, you know?! This was only shortly before I found out that these fried insects were already a reality in Thailand

    My place of choice

    My place of choice

I honestly believe that the term “land of endless possibilities” totally fits Thailand, at least when it comes to holidays. Ask 100 people about their favourite place in the “Land of smiles” or their favourite things to do and you may as well get 100 different answers…or more. In my 20+ years in the tourism business, mostly spent in Southeast Asian destinations and most of that being Thailand, I have seen almost every corner of the country.

So this is the time of the year when we look back on the past 365 days and ask ourselves: “So…that was it?” Don’t worry, I will not bore you with elongated stories of what happened and my no very precise prediction of what will be. But allow me some words about my job and the place I live in.

    What a Celebration!

    What a Celebration!

    Post by chananya

Everyone celebrates special events in their lives differently or not at all. Some of us are fortunate enough to have the means or people to celebrate with. Most recently, I was deeply touched by a request to help a celebration of a 50th birthday. It’s a special mark of an event in one’s life.
